Burlingame Historical Preservation Society
HISTORY The Burlingame Historical Preservation Society was organized in April of 2001. A seven member board was selected. The goal of this board was to raise funds to purchase the old Schuyler school building. This was soon achieved and on October 1, 2001 ownership of the property was turned over to the BHPS. The Schuyler school was built in 1902 and the Historical Society goal was to open the museum on the 100th anniversary year of 2002. The dream of the original Historical Society founders became a reality on June 24, 2002. MISSION STATEMENT The objectives of the Burlingame Historical Preservation Foundation, Inc., will be to preserve and maintain the Burlingame area history, oral or written, buildings, Santa Fe Avenue, historical sites and artifacts, and make it available to the public to further their education and knowledge of the Burlingame community and its history. MEMBERSHIP Section 1 Membership in the BHPS shall be open to any individual, families, or institution interested in the objectives as stated in the Mission Statement. Section 2 Individual is a person interested in the mission and objectives of the BHPS and entitles them to vote, hold office, serve on committees, and any communications issued by the BHPS. Section 3 Family members are those who pay dues based on a group membership. Each member of the family 18 and over and residing in the household is entitled to one vote. Any voting member of the family may hold office, serve on a committee. and receive any communications issued by the BHPS. Section 4 Institution members may be businesses. historical societies, chambers of commerce, religious organizations. fraternal organizations, civic clubs, social clubs or other like organizations. Institutions may appoint one representative to vote. Any member of the institution may hold office, serve on a committee and receive any communications issued by the BHPS. Section 5 Contributions which exceed the annual dues membership will entitle the individual, family, or institution to a one year membership under the appropriate category.
