Level Payment Billing
Take the seasonal ups and downs out of your energy bills and pay the same amount every month. The City now offers a level payment system to help customers with their personal finances. How Level Payment Billing Works
Level Payment Billing begins with the May billing. The settlement month will be with the April billing.
We calculate an average monthly amount based on your previous year's usage plus add 10% for possible rate increases or usage increases. You pay this amount every month for 11 months. The bill sent on the 12th month ( which we call the settlement month) reflects the balance difference of your account. This bill will also bring your account back to zero.
We still read your meter(s) each month and indicate on your bill what you've used and what your account balance is, whether it's a credit or debit. We will notify you if we feel a need to change your Level Payment Billing amount to keep it in line with your usage and avoid a large settlement month.
Those customers with a credit balance larger than their payment will be allowed to skip a payment or two so that a larger credit is not built up.
If you are on the Level Payment Plan and wish to discontinue anytime during the
year, you may do so by calling City Hall. If you owe a balance, you will
have to pay that amount on the 20th instead of your level payment amount.
You will also have a one year waiting period before you can enroll again. How to EnrollYou are eligible for the plan if you have had an account for at least 12 months and have paid the previous 12 bills on-time.
