Parks and Recreation
Burlingame has two very nice, well shaded, parks for picnics and family get-togethers and one sports complex. Sumner Park is located 2 ½ blocks south of the main intersection of town. It has several shelter houses with picnic tables, playground equipment for the kids, a sand volleyball pit, basketball court, tennis court and public restrooms.
There is also a gazebo and the sidewalk around the park is wide for those of you who to just get out and walk. The other park is Jones Park. It is located 2 ½ blocks north of the main intersection of town. It also has several shelter houses with picnic tables, playground equipment, skateboard park, and public restrooms. Jones Park also overlooks the swimming pool, U.S. D. 454 and the football field.
If you continue north of Jones Park on Topeka Avenue to Bloomquist Drive you will find the entrance to U.S.D. 454, Allen County Community College and the Jones Sports Complex. The complex has three fields for baseball and softball and a two batting cages. |
